The country today

Equatorial Guinea built its economy around oil and gas production from the Alba, Zafiro and Ceiba fields. Output has fallen over the past decade, and the government has launched licensing rounds and gas megaproject plans to reverse decline. The country wants field redevelopment, enhanced recovery and gas monetisation solutions that can be deployed quickly and with clear local-content commitments.

Energy — oil and gas

The offshore basins around Bioko Island hold the producing fields, while deeper and more recent exploration targets have had mixed results. The domestic gas initiative and backfill for the existing LNG plant are live policy priorities. For technology suppliers, the most credible entry points are brownfield rejuvenation, well intervention and small-scale gas processing tied to existing infrastructure.

Regulatory and fiscal terms are evolving as the government tries to attract investment without surrendering NOC equity. Direct relationships with the Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons and the national oil company are essential.
